I'm a guitar player -- jazz, country, rock and folk -- not classical -- and on a trip in 2006 to New Mexico, I found and played a classical guitar that blew my mind.
The "Wow" factor I call it. This guitar was loud, extremely balanced, and most of all, it sounded beautiful. I asked Luis Campos of Encore Music where he got the guitar, and he told me the story of its creation and its original owner. To make this short right now, I followed up on its owner, was introduced to the Master Luthier that had built this guitar, and arranged to distribute every guitar he could build.
Even better yet, we have collaborated on designing some new models that are perfect for the jazz and country crossover musician that wants a classical guitar sound but plays like a steel string instrument. These models have a narrower neck with a radiused fret board and comes either as a 12 fret or 14 fret neck. The tone and punch remain the same. Still the "Wow" factor.
OK, the Master Luthier is Master Guo, Chinese by birth, trained in France and Germany, and now has his own shop in China. He is a partner with two others in a factory making steel string acoustics and electrics, plus violins, cellos and all of the string family of instruments.
